An Apple Watch (standalone, no phone required), iPhone, and iPad app for utilizing Alexa is available. This app allows you to control your home devices, ask general questions, add and remove items from your shopping list, and set timers, all conveniently accessible on your wrist.
- Series 4 watch and newer models are supported.
- Installation of the app on the watch is controlled by your phone. To speed up the install time, it is recommended to put your watch on a charger during installation.
- It's important to note that not all audio content can be supported. Due to restrictions imposed by Amazon, third-party apps like this one are unable to play music, audiobooks, certain daily-news content, make announcements, or enable drop-in functionality.
- You have the option to use a Siri Shortcut to launch the app and start speaking simply by raising your wrist on the Apple Watch. Refer to the support page for instructions on how to configure this feature.
- All watch complication types are supported, including more unique ones. Additionally, you can customize the complication icon under Settings.
- The watch app can automatically listen for commands upon launch. This functionality can also be enabled on the iPhone via the settings.
- If you notice incorrect weather or time information, ensure that you have enabled Location access in the Alexa app for the "Voice in a Can" device and granted Location permissions to the app on your phone.
- Using the app doesn't require you to say "Alexa". Simply speak your command when the app is listening.
- You can change the language for both input and response under "Settings" on both the watch and phone. However, only languages supported by Alexa are available. The language settings should adjust automatically.
